On June 10, 2022, Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital Geriatric Center was established, focusing on building a multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment system and emergency and critical care system, effectively alleviating the problems of difficult medical treatment and hospitalization for the elderly. The establishment of the center also lays an important foundation for the characteristic development of hospital medical and elderly care integration. On December 7, 2023, the Geriatric Center was established as the Institute of Geriatric Medicine at Nanjing University School of Medicine, marking a further deepening of the "institutional cooperation" between our hospital and Nanjing University School of Medicine, and forming a new situation of interdisciplinary research, resource integration, and high integration of industry, academia, and research in the field of aging. In the future, our Geriatric Center will focus on clinical needs and scientific research innovation, creating a leading aging research platform in China. We will establish a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment center, a smart medical and elderly care technology service center, an active health technology service center, a palliative care technology service center, as well as a medical and nursing health training base and a medical and elderly care industry research and development base, to further solve the problem of "multiple diseases in one body" among the elderly.
